Indian nationals arriving at the Phuentsholing border without their passports or voter ID Cards, may please approach the Consulate General of India in Phuentsholing for obtaining Identification Slips. For this purpose they will need to submit two passport size photographs (4cmx4cm) and any two of the following documents in original:
a) Residence proof carrying photograph issued by Sub-Divisional Officer/District Magistrate
b) Consumer (Ration) Card with Photograph
c) Photo ID from Central/State Government/Public Sector Undertaking/Educational Institution
d) PAN Card
e) Aadhar Card
f) Driving License
Identification Slips issued by Consulate General of India, Phuentsholing may be presented to Regional Immigration Office, Royal Government of Bhutan, Phuentsholing for obtaining entry permits for visiting Bhutan.
Indian nationals having their passports or voter IDs may please directly approach Regional Immigration Office, Royal Govt. of Bhutan, Phuentsholing to obtain entry permits for visiting Bhutan. No fee is charged by Royal Govt. of Bhutan for issuing entry permits.
The 'entry permit’ issued by Regional Immigration Office, Royal Government of Bhutan, Phuentsholing allows an Indian tourist to visit Thimphu and Paro only. However, tourists desirous of going beyond Thimphu and Paro need to acquire a 'special area permit’ from the Royal Govt. of Bhutan Immigration Office at Thimphu on any working days (Monday to Friday). Applicants may also check with Embassy of Bhutan in New Delhi and its Consulate General in Kolkata for advance permits.
