Profile of Consul General

Mr. G. Ajith Kumar began his career in the Ministry of External Affairs in 1989. He assumed charge as Consul General of India at Phuentsholing (Bhutan) on 4th April 2024.

He has a wide experience working in various capacities in the Ministry of External Affairs, both at Headquarters and at Indian Missions/Posts abroad. His prior diplomatic assignments abroad include Phnom Penh (Cambodia), Doha (Qatar), Dakar (Senegal), Jakarta (Indonesia), Tel Aviv (Israel) and Vancouver (Canada).  He has looked after bilateral and multilateral relations, consular, HR, establishment and cultural matters during his previous assignments.

He holds a Masters degree in Commerce.  He speaks English, Hindi, Malayalam and Bangla. He has varied interests like sports, music, travel and reading.

He is married to Mrs. Rupa Ajith and they have a son.
