Registration of Deaths |
In case of death of an Indian national in Brazil, the same is required be registered with the Embassy or Consulate at the earliest. Embassy, after cancellation of the passport and carrying out necessary entries in the passport database, shall issue a ‘Death Certificate’ on the basis of death certificate issued by local authorities. For local cremation/burial of mortal remains In case of performing the last rites in Brazil, local authorities may require a ‘No Objection Certificate’ issued by the Embassy / Consulate for allowing local burial/cremation of the mortal remains. In such cases, the family/relative/sponsor or the informant may contact the Embassy for issuance of ‘No Objection Certificate’ with the following documents:-
For transportation of mortal remains to India In case of transportation of mortal remains to India for performing last rites, local authorities may require a ‘No Objection Certificate’ issued by the Embassy / Consulate for allowing airlifting of the mortal remains. In such case, in addition to those required for allowing performing last rites locally, the following additional document shall also be required:-
