India-Brazil Startup Bridge to be launched on 6th November 2020

The Indian startup ecosystem is the 3rd largest startup ecosystem in the world and is growing exponentially. Since the inception of the Startup India initiative, India has become one of the leading nations in terms of startups added every hour. India has seen the growth of 23 unicorn startups and is projected to have 100 unicorn startups by the year 2025.

2. Brazil is one of the strongest economies in Latin America, contributing 30% of its GDP. Brazil offers immense opportunities for startups with its strong domestic market of 212 million people as of 2019, over 148 million web users, and 76 million e-shoppers.

3. During the State visit of President Jair Bolsonaro to India in January 2020, when he was the Chief Guest of the Republic Day celebrations, India and Brazil signed 15 MoUs/Agreements in various sectors including economy, health, culture etc. One of these MoUs/Agreements was for cooperation between Invest India and Apex-Brasil.

4. As part of this collaboration, Invest India and Apex-Brasil, in association with the Embassy of India, will launch the India-Brazil Startup platform on November 6th, at 9 am (Brasilia time i.e. 5:30 pm in New Delhi). The objective of this bridge is to enable startups, investors, incubators, and aspiring entrepreneurs from both countries to connect with one another and it provides them with resources to expand and become globalized startups.

5. The bridge between India and Brazil will help the startups and entrepreneurs in the two nations with the following:

  • Knowledge Exchange: The comprehensive guides and toolkits provided through the bridge will assist startups in evaluating expansion opportunities and technology transfers to the corresponding market.

  • Networking Opportunities and Connects: The bridge will enable connectivity among startups, mentors, investors, and incubators in relevant sectors from India and Brazil.

  • Joint programs for Value Offerings: As a one-stop-shop, it is going to host all ecosystem programs. It is a central page to highlight and launch the bilateral initiatives to support the startups in the two countries and further support them via exchange programs, financial grants, acceleration opportunity, and other benefits.

  • Query Resolution: It allows stakeholders from either of the countries’ startup ecosystem to reach out to dedicated organizations for connect requests, guidance, and support as required.

6. The event will see participation of Ambassador of India to Brazil H.E. Suresh Reddy, along with CEO of Invest India Deepak Bagla, and President of Apex-Brasil Sergio Segovia and Ambassador of Brazil to India. The event will also see participation of Brazilian and Indian startups and major companies who will share their experiences.

O ecossistema de startups indiano é o terceiro maior do mundo e está crescendo exponencialmente. Desde o início da iniciativa “Startup India”, a Índia se tornou uma das nações líderes em termos de startups criadas a cada hora. A Índia viu o crescimento de 23 startups em unicórnios e está projetada para ter 100 startups unicórnio até o ano de 2025.

2. O Brasil é a maior economia da América Latina, contribuindo com 30% do PIB da região. O Brasil oferece imensas oportunidades para startups com seu forte mercado doméstico de 212 milhões de pessoas em 2019, mais de 148 milhões de usuários da web e 76 milhões de e-shoppers.

3. Durante a visita de Estado do Presidente Jair Bolsonaro à Índia em janeiro de 2020, na condição de Convidado de Honra das celebrações do Dia da República, a Índia e o Brasil assinaram 15 Memorandos de Entendimento e Acordos em vários setores, incluindo economia, saúde, cultura, etc. Um destes Memorandos cimentaram a cooperação entre a Invest India e a Apex-Brasil.

4. Como parte dessa cooperação, a Invest India e a Apex-Brasil, em associação com a Embaixada da Índia, lançarão a plataforma Startup Índia-Brasil no dia 6 de novembro, às 9h do horário de Brasilia (17h30 em Nova Delhi). O objetivo dessa plataforma é permitir que startups, investidores, incubadoras e potenciais empreendedores de ambos os países se conectem e facilitar o acesso a recursos para se expandirem e se tornarem startups globalizadas.

5. A ponte entre a Índia e o Brasil ajudará as startups e empreendedores dos dois países em:

Troca de conhecimento: Os guias e ferramentas fornecidos por meio da ponte ajudarão as startups a avaliar as oportunidades de expansão e transferências de tecnologia em seus mercados de interesse.

Oportunidades e networking: A ponte permitirá a conectividade entre startups, mentores, investidores e incubadoras em setores relevantes da Índia e do Brasil.

• Programas conjuntos para ofertas de valor: como um ponto central, a ponte vai hospedar todos os programas do ecossistema. É uma página central para destacar e lançar as iniciativas bilaterais para apoiar as startups nos dois países e apoiá-las ainda mais por meio de programas de intercâmbio, subsídios financeiros, oportunidade de aceleração e outros benefícios.

• Resolução de consulta: permite que as partes interessadas de qualquer um dos ecossistemas de startups dos países entrem em contato com organizações especializadas para buscar orientação e suporte conforme necessário.

6. O evento terá a participação do Embaixador da Índia no Brasil Sua Excelência, Sr. Sureh Reddy, juntamente com o CEO da Invest India Deepak Bagla, e o Presidente da Apex-Brasil Sergio Segovia e o Embaixador do Brasil na Índia Sua Excelência, Sr. André Aranha Corrêa do Lago. O evento também contará com a participação de startups brasileiras e indianas e de grandes empresas que compartilharão suas experiências.
