2nd Special Course for Diplomats from the Caribbean Community (CARICOM)

The 2nd Special Course for Diplomats from the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) is being held at the Foreign Service Institute (FSI) of the Ministry of External Affairs of India from 12-23 August 2019. 23 Diplomats from 10 countries of the CARICOM are participating in the course.  The Special Course was inaugurated at FSI on 12 August 2019. Amb. J.S. Mukul, Dean (FSI) also hosted a welcome reception for the diplomats.

Senior officers of the Ministry of External Affairs and others will address the diplomats from CARICOM as part of the training programme. The Special Course includes modules on India’s foreign policy, key international issues, multilateral diplomacy and diplomatic skills. The diplomats will also get an exposure to India’s economic progress and undertake study tours to experience the rich cultural heritage of India.

The 1st Special Course for Diplomats from the CARICOM was organised by the FSI in December 2017.

India has close and friendly relations with CARICOM countries. These relations comprise of shared history and people-to-people relations. Both sides actively cooperate in multilateral fora and on issues related to global commons. There are important Indian investments in countries of the region. There are important cultural ties with the region. India’s institutionalised ties with the CARICOM have further strengthened India’s relations with the countries as seen in the continuous engagement that has taken place between India and the CARICOM.
