What is Consular Inscription?
The Consular Inscription is a document issued by the Embassy of India which proves the personal data, according to the travel document, of the Indian citizen. It is a document that may be required by the Brazilian authorities.

How do I apply for Consular Inscription?
To apply for Consular Inscription, the applicant must:
(i) Print and fill out a Miscellaneous Form (available at: Form for Miscellaneous Services )
(ii) Send or bring the completed form to the Embassy, with two 3x4cm photos,
(iii) Write a simple letter, stating the reason for which Consular Inscription is necessary and for which body it will be presented in Brazil;
(iv) Notary Attested copy of the passport and original passport. 

What are the amounts and the forms of payment to obtain the Consular Inscription?
The amount for the issuance of the Consular Inscription is R $ 100.00 plus the amount of R $ 7.00, paid separately, for the ICWF rate. Remember that if the applicant wishes their documentation to be returned by Sedex, it should add the value of $ 60.00. The fee for Sedex may be added to the fee for the document issuance rate, but not to the ICWF rate.

Do I need to go to the Embassy to apply for the Consular Inscription?
Residents in the states of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Paraná, Santa Catarina or Rio Grande do Sul must submit their Consular Inscription application to the Consulate General of India in São Paulo. The consular section of the Embassy of India in Brasilia has jurisdiction over the other states of Brazil. If your jurisdiction is Brasília, then you come personally or you may send the documentation through Sedex. Remember that if the applicant wishes their documentation to be returned by Sedex, it should add the value of R$ 60,00. The fee for Sedex may be added to the fee for the document issuance rate, but not to the ICWF rate.

I do not live in Brasilia / DF. Do I need to go to the Embassy to apply for Consular Inscription?
