Advisory on Spoofed Calls

There have been incidents of fraudsters spoofing Embassy of India telephone lines in some countries to cheat people. Some of these calls are shown as being from an Embassy telephone number, while others simply use Embassy identity. These fraudsters either seek personal information like credit card details etc. or try to extort money from Indian nationals by inter alia claiming that there are errors in their passports or other documents.

2. Officials from the Embassy do not make any telephone calls seeking personal information on phone from any Indian or foreign nationals.

3. The Embassy of India hereby advises members of the public not to entertain any suspicious telephone calls made in the name of Embassy of India. They are also advised not to reveal any personal information or transfer any money in response to such calls. In case any such calls are received, they may bring such matters to the notice of the Embassy at the e-mail ID: cons.tashkentmea.gov.in, giving the following information to the extent available:
