Ayurveda

Ayurveda is a science of life. Prevention of Diseases and promotion of Health is the main aim of Ayurveda. Lord Dhanwantari is considered as the father of Ayurveda.

Ayurveda is considered one of the world’s oldest healing/medical sciences, originating in India more than 5,000 years ago. Its name is a Sanskrit word that literally translates as “the wisdom of life” or “the knowledge of longevity” (it is a compound word of ãyus, meaning life or longevity, and Veda, meaning deep knowledge or wisdom). In accordance with this definition, Ayurveda views health as much more than the absence of disease. It works on the principle of ‘Prevention is better than Cure’. Definition of Health, from an Ayurvedic perspective, is defined as a gracious, tranquil, content, joyous, bright, and clear state of the body, senses, mind, and spirit, including the balanced state of one’s natural constitution, all bodily tissues, the digestive capacities, and waste excretion.

Ayurveda, apart from providing various therapeutic measures for diseases, emphasizes on maintenance, promotion of health and prevention of diseases through diet and lifestyle regimens. As per Ayurveda, life is sustained by a triploid of mental, physical and spiritual factors constituted by body (Sharir), senses (Indriyas), mind (Satwa) and spirit (Atma). The physical world including the human body is derived from the specific combinations of five fundamental or basic elements -viz. Akash, Vayu, Teja, Jala and Prithvi which are known as Panchamahabhutas and the soul.

An Ayurveda Expert deputed from Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India has been teaching at the State Medical University of Turkmenistan as well as offering free consultation at the International Yoga and Traditional Medicine Centre, Ashgabat since 2018.
