Security Advisory Regarding Mujahid Victory Day |
Embassy of India Kabul KAB/815/2/11(126) April 25, 2013 Security Advisory In Afghanistan, the Mujahid Victory Day is being commemorated on April 28, 2013. It has been observed in the past, in and around such occasions, the Anti Government Elements (AGEs) may strike to mark their presence and to invite the attention of local and international media. 2. Fresh inputs indicate that AGEs may strike again in the same manner. Recently, Afghan Security Forces arrested at least five suspected suicide bombers, including a woman and seized four suicide bombing vests along with some other explosives in eastern Nangarhar province. They were looking to carry out attack in Kabul city during the Mujahid Victory Day. 3. Besides, the possibility of AGEs targeting Indian nationals and Indian interests/establishments in near future in Afghanistan cannot be ruled out. The Public Affairs Wing of Embassy of India, Kabul, from time to time, has conveyed through its Security Advisories that Indian nationals residing in Afghanistan should follow the utmost security precautions and to maintain extra vigil. 4. While traveling, maintain safe distance from vehicles or conveys of security forces and avoid going near the security establishments/offices, as these continue to remain primary targets of AGEs. It is advised that unnecessary movement to public places such as mar kets and restaurants, may please be curtailed/avoided. It is also advised to follow all security drills and keeps oneself informed about the security scenario via local visual/print media as well as through interaction with fellow colleagues. 5. This advisory is being issued to keep the addressees fully aware of the perceived threats and not to create panic or fear.
