Consulate General of India Phuentsholing celebrated 73rd Independence at Phuentsholing today. Consul General Shri Ashish Middha hoisted the National Flag, inspected the guard of honour and read out the President's Address to the Nation. The flag hoisting ceremony was followed by cultural programmes by school children/students from Phuentsholing and Jaigaon. The event was attended in large numbers by the members of the Indian community including rank and file of Dantak, IMTRAT and other Government of India Offices in Phuentsholing. The event also saw participation from Hon'ble Mayor Dasho Uttar Kumar Rai, officials from Royal Bhutan Police, Royal Bhutan Army, Dunkhag Administration, Phuentsholing Thromde, Bhutan Chamber of Commerce, business community in Phuentsholing and other Departments of Royal Government of Bhutan.

Consul General Shri Ashish Middha attended the closing ceremony and business pitching events of the 3-day workshop titled Innovation for Disaster Management organised at College of Science and Technology, Phuentsholing in collaboration with e-yantra initiatives, IIT Mumbai. This is the first of its kind event in Bhutan where technology experts and business minds from India have collaborated at college level. Looking forward for more such events in the future.

Consul General Shri Ashish Middha participated in the 10th Bhutan Construction Expo 2019 being organised by Bhutan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) from 18-21 July 2019 in Thimphu. Over 50 business entities primarily from Bhutan and India have kept all kinds of construction and building materials on display at the event. Lyonpo Loknath Sharma, Hon'ble Minister of Economic Affairs graced the occasion as Chief Guest.

CGI Phuentsholing celebrated 150th Birth Anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi by planting saplings at the Indo-Bhutan border on the occasion of World Environment Day in association with Phuentsholing city corporation. Mayor of Phuentsholing and senior Bhutanese officials joined the effort along with officers from Dantak, IMTRAT, members of Bhutan-India Friendship Association and Indian community living in Phuentsholing.
