Announcement of ICCR Scholarship Scheme for AY 2024-25

1.     ICCR has announced 100 Scholarship slots globally under the Lata Mangeshkar Dance & Music Scholarship Scheme (A1209) for pursing study of Indian Culture such as dance, music, theatre, performing art, sculpture, Indian languages, Indian cuisine, etc. for the academic year 2024-25.

2.        Applications from interested international students for the academic year 2024-25 will be invited online through ICCR’S existing A2A scholarship portal http://a2ascholarships.iccr.gov.in . The students will have the option to apply to 5 universities/institutes in the order of their preference of study from among the 126 Universities/Institutes on board with ICCR for the AY 2024-25. The admission, as far as possible, shall be given as per applicant's preference. However, there may be a situation when students do not get admission in their preferred Universities/Institutes due to limited number of seats on offer. Rejected candidates will be intimated by Universities.

3.        For Academic Year 2024-25, a 500-word essay in English has been introduced to ascertain English Proficiency. Besides, students can also submit their TOFEL/ IELTS etc. Standardized Test scores, if available.

4.        Interested students are advised to visit the university/institute website regularly and do a thorough research of courses offered, eligibility criteria, and general information about the university/institute before applying for admission.The students should ensure that they are eligible for the course and meet the eligibility criteria and should submit relevant documentation as required by the Universities in addition to the basic certificates mentioned in the application form. They should also refer to the Universities Handbook / University Grants Commission's website and the concerned University/Institute's website. Further, application will not be considered without English translation of documents, if the original documents are not in English. Students must thoroughly check their applications and attach requisite documents before submission, to avoid rejection of the application by the Universities.

5.    The general guidelines for applying for a scholarship are as follows:

  • Applicant’s age as on the date of opening of the A2A portal should be between 18 to 40 years (for undergraduate and postgraduate courses) and maximum 50 years (For PhD Programmes).
  • Applicants must be in sound health, and should not submit incomplete/fraudulent documentation, in case of which their selection procedure will automatically be deemed as cancelled.
  • It is compulsory for all ICCR scholarship students to procure a Medical Insurance policy with minimum sum assured for Indian Rupees Five Lakhs per annum. Applicants are advised to ensure that they must have medical insurance coverage on their own either before travel or immediately after reaching India, whatever is convenient to students. Students can purchase medical insurance from any of the insurance companies of their choice. However to facilitate students, A2A Scholarship Portal has two insurance companies for referral purpose. Applicants are advised to be aware of the change in medical insurance policy. ICCR has uploaded the revised norms on its Portal.
  • It is essential for the applicants to familiarize themselves with living conditions at their destination/University, wherever possible.
  • ICCR may amend some provisions of scholarships from time to time and it is incumbent on students to accept the revised norms.
  • ICCR advises students to stay in the campus hostel, if available. However, students are allowed to stay in private accommodation if the concerned institute does not insist on staying in their hostel.

 

6.            Important time-line for the admission process is below:-

04 April 2024 – Opening of Portal for inviting applications from interested candidates

15 - June – 2024 – Last date for applicant to submit application on portal

18 - July – 2024– Last date for Universities to inform the decision of admission or rejection (if confirmed, intimation to Missions, if rejected, intimation to students)

25 – July – 2024– Last date for Indian Missions to decide on allocating scholarship and generating Offer Letters.

31 – July – 2024 – Last date for students to confirm/reject acceptance of offer of scholarship

15 – August – 2024– Based on the number of acceptances in the first round (if acceptances are less than the scholarship seats allocated) Indian Mission to offer scholarship to other students who were not considered in the first round.

25 – August – 2024 – Second-round students to convey their acceptances.
