Indian Culinary Festival in the Dominican Republic

II FOOD FESTIVAL OF INDIA The exquisite Indian cuisine arrives in Santo Domingo with the inauguration of the Indian Food Festival for the delight of the Dominican gourmets.

Speaking at the launch of the Festival, the Ambassador of India, HE Mr. C. Rajasekhar recounted the recent spurt in the Indian activity in DR featuring among others, the Business event in June with the participation of an Indian business delegation that included EximBank of India Head for the Americas; hosting the first ever India National Day in August, etc, reflecting the keen desire of India to strengthen and deepen the bonds of friendship and cooperation with DR in all spheres.

He further informed of the Caribbean and Latin America Business Conclave being hosted in December in New Delhi and that India has invited participation from DR. Honorable Minister Jean-Alain Rodriguez, President of CEI-RD is expected to lead a multi-sector business delegation to expand economic and commercial cooperation between the two countries.

Ambassador quoted the Indian saying that the route to the heart is through the stomach hoping that the Food Festival would generate more friends and admirers and more enthusiasm for India-DR cooperation. He thanked the ITDC for sending the finest Indian chefs, Gaurav Malhotra y Jai Kishan, Government of India for sponsoring their air passage and the First Honorary Consul of India Mr. Fernando Gonzalez. The President of the India-DR Chamber of Commerce and senior Indian businessmen Mr. Dharmendra and Mr. Suresh Kumar for their whole-hearted support.

The Ambassador further explained that the variety of dishes reflects the rich and diverse culinary heritage of India. The expertise lies in the balance between form and function, between taste and nourishment. The Food Festival of India will be on from 14 to 21 October 2013 at Nipau Restaurant
