1st Special Course for Diplomats from Eritrea and Zambia (17-28 April 2023)
The 1st Special Course for thirty young diplomats from Eritrea and Zambia is being held at the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (SSIFS), Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi from 17- 28 April, 2023. It was inaugurated on 17 April, 2023 by Dean (SSIFS), Amb. Sanjiv Ranjan.
The Special Course would inter alia include sessions on geopolitics; global economic landscape; India’s foreign policy, particularly with emphasis on India’s relations with Africa; priorities of India’s G20 Presidency; diplomatic protocol; negotiation skills, etc. The course would also include thematic issues such as climate change, SDGs, food security and water security. The diplomats will also undertake a study tour of New Delhi and a day-long visit to Taj Mahal, Agra.
India has cordial bilateral relations with Zambia. The two countries share a robust development partnership marked by India’s Lines of Credit, grants and training and capacity building programmes under the ITEC initiative. Zambia is also an important destination for India’s growing trade and economic investments. Cooperation in diplomatic training between India and Zambia takes place within the ambit of the MoU signed in August, 2019.
India also has close ties with Eritrea, which have been nurtured over time via an exchange of high level visits and economic cooperation. India and Eritrea cooperate in the field of agriculture, energy, education and health. India has also provided capacity building assistance to Eritrea through the ITEC programme and ICCR scholarships.
