Hiqh Commissioner of India to Cyprus

Appointed High Commissioner of India to Cyprus on August 29, 2017 and arrived in Cyprus on 1st  November, 2017.

Born in April 1941, and educated in Madras (now Chennai), joined the Indian Police Service (IPS) in 1963. Served as Inspector General and Director-General (Vigilance & Corruption) Tamil Nadu Police (1988-1999); Director, Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI), Government of India, New Delhi (January 1999 to April 2001). A recipient of the Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service and the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service. Retired from Indian Police Service in April 2001. Post retirement from the IPS, was a visiting fellow at Harvard Law School, in 2001, and; Advisor, Tata Consultancy Services, Mumbai (2002 onwards); Member, Board of Governors, Bharathidasan Institute of Management, Tamil Nadu; Member, Board of Jindal Global Law University, New Delhi (2010 onwards); and, Member, International Advisory Board, Institute of Criminology, Cambridge University, UK (2012 onwards).

He speaks Tamil, Sanskrit and Hindi.

Areas of interest include: political, socio-economic, strategic developments, international trade & investment promotion; and multilateral economic and development partnership matters.

Married to Shanti and has a son who lives in London.
