GENERAL INFORMATION

In accordance with the rules and regulations of the Government of India, the Embassy grants visa, on application, to those intending to visit India for tourist, business and other purposes.

Visa Application Forms are available free of cost at the Embassy. Photocopied or downloaded Visa Application Forms are also acceptable. The visa application form duly filled in and signed by the applicant himself should be submitted along with two recent identical passport size coloured photographs duly pasted on the form at specified place, applicable visa fees, necessary documents and the passport - valid for at least six months beyond the applied visa period.

Timings: All Visa applications are received at the Embassy of India, 3455, Sharkassiyeh, Ibn Al Haitham Street, Abu Rumaneh, Damascus, between 0900 hrs. and 1100 hrs. on all working days (i.e., Sunday to Thursday) and visas are normally issued on the same day between 1600 hrs and 1630 hrs, if the application submitted with supporting documents is in order, or next working day, to Syrian nationals.

For foreigners (non-Syrian nationals), a reference will be made to the Indian Mission in their country of residence and would require additional processing time and fee of SP.600 (Syrian Pounds Six Hundred).  They will have to fill up an additional form for verification of particulars and submit it along with the visa application (Form 21).  The period of validity of all types of visas begins from the date of their issue.  If visa is valid for more than 180 days, registration is compulsory within 14 days of first arrival in India.  All categories of applicants visiting India are advised to observe their stay in India as per validity of their visas; overstay could invite legal action and non-issuance of visa in future by any Indian Mission/Post abroad. They are also advised to abide by the law of the land and not to misuse status of their respective visa granted by the Mission.  Indulgence in any unlawful or undesirable practice or activity will be dealt with strictly.

The Embassy reserves the right to refuse or reduce the period of visa applied for without assigning any reason. Visa fee is charged regardless of whether visa is issued or not, and is not refundable.

Please Note: Visa applicants may please note that all the incoming passengers are required to undergo screening for SWINE Influenza A (H1N1) virus on reaching the airport in India. This may require quarantine, hospitalization etc. in case symptoms connected with flu are detected.
