Visa Services Information

All foreign nationals entering India are required to possess a valid international travel document in the form of a national passport with a valid visa obtained from an Indian Mission. The Indian visa is issued under Government of India’s Foreigners Act.

With effect from May 3, 2015 all Individual visa seekers are requested to apply for the Indian Visa through online application link https://indianvisaonline.gov.in   (Please note that from May 3, 2015 hand written visa application forms will not accepted by the Embassy of India for issuance of visa.)

Visa application printout is required to be signed by the applicant himself/ herself.  The validity of Indian visa starts from the date of issue and not from the date of travel to India. Therefore applicants are required to apply for appropriate validity visa.

2.             Warning about fake Visa Website.

It has come to the notice that various websites which are not authorized by the Government of India have been soliciting visa seekers to apply for Indian visa through their online portal against a service fee. Please note that the ONLY authorized online visa application form web link is https://indianvisaonline.gov.in 

While filling online visa application form, please note that no fee is charged for filling the form or taking print-outs. Visa seekers will have to pay necessary service charge to only the authorized India Visa Application Centre (IVAC) while submitting the print-out of the online visa form or while getting the online form registered through the IVAC.

3.   All Afghan citizens holding ordinary passports are required to apply at the Embassy’s only authorized Visa Outsourcing Agency M/s Shahir Travel agency. The address of India Visa Application Center (IVAC) managed by the authorized outsourcing agency is given below:-

IVAC operating hours:

  • Submission of Visa Applications – 8:00 am to 1:00 pm (Sunday to Thursday). 
  • Time of Collection – 2:30 pm to 6:30pm

 

IVAC is closed on Friday and Saturday and public holidays observed by the Embassy of India.

IVAC Service Charges:

IVAC charges Afghani 350 for each application as online form filling and for services rendered. An additional Afghani 50 will be charged for biometrics per applicant by the IVAC. 

Embassy of India issues Visas to Afghan citizens as gratis.  There is no charge levied by the Embassy [except in those cases where the passport has been issued from an Afghan mission overseas]. However, in case of Emergency Visa services a fee of $38 per applicant is charged. The same is to be paid in cash in Afghanis at the Embassy.

4.   Visa applications are processed at the Embassy and applicants may be required to appear for interview.  The period required for issue of visas varies between 4-5 working days.   The applicant should provide his/her full name, passport number, address, telephone number, email, and reference details in the application. Incomplete applications and applications with incorrect details are liable for rejection.

5.   Embassy of India, Kabul does not accept visa applications at its premises, except those requesting for grant of (i) Visas to Non–Afghan Foreign Visa applicants holding ordinary, official and diplomatic passports. (ii) Afghan nationals holding official and diplomatic passports. (iii) Visa applicants holding UNLP (iv) Gratis visas for the invitees from the Government of India/State Government bodies and (v) Issuing of visas on Emergency basis.

All Afghan visa applicants and non-Afghan Foreigners holding Diplomatic/ Service Passports are required to submit printout of their visa application directly at the Embassy along with Note Verbale from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan or their Embassy or UN Organization respectively.

All non-Afghan Foreigners holding ordinary passport is also required to submit printout of their online forms at the Embassy directly along with relevant documents.

At least 5 working days are required for processing of visa applications of non-Afghan visa applicants.

5.   Emergency (same day) visa services are available on working days for Afghan nationals whose passports have been issued in Afghanistan. In case of emergencies (such as medical), applicants may contact the IVAC on telephone no. 0799679151, 0789047417, 0776660949 between 8 am and 12 noon and the Embassy on 0XXX-XX-2200185/ 00-93-20-2203430 between 1 pm and 5 pm. During working days the applicant is required to approach the Visa Application Centre (IVAC) managed by M/s Shahir Travel Agency first to vet the genuineness of the case before forwarding it to the Mission for its consideration. The IVAC may charge Afghani 350 as form filling and for services rendered in such cases.  In this case passport delivery is made directly to the applicant by the Mission on the same day.

Documentation Requirements for Emergency Visa Services:

  • Duly filled online visa application form printout with 2 colour photographs (2”X2” size) with white background.
  • Passport with at least 6 months validity.
  • Emergency Service Fee – USD 38 per application. To be paid in Afghanis in cash only.
  • Polio Vaccination certificate from authorized vaccination centers mentioning the passport number.
  • Documental proof for emergency visa services such as medical records etc.

 

Such cases will be considered purely on merit and if approved, an Emergency Visa Services Fees of USD 38 per application is charged by the Mission for the Emergency Services.

6.   Please note that as per latest Government of India’s health regulation Polio Vaccination & Certificate for all travelers to India from Afghanistan is compulsory since 1st February, 2014.

Note:

  • Afghan nationals are issued gratis visa.
  • Visa fee and service fee, if applicable are non-refundable. 
  • Visa applicants are required to complete all fields in the visa application form correctly and accurately. Incorrect/ incomplete applications are liable to be rejected. 
  • All visa applications should be accompanied by copy of personal particular page of the passport and copy of Taskara (ID card) for Afghan nationals. Other relevant documents as per the type of visa applied for and asked for by the IVAC will also be required to be produced by the applicant.
  • Non-Afghan Foreigners have to produce copy of Passport, including the Afghan visa page proving residency in Afghanistan along with the application.
  • Visa application is required to be signed by the applicant himself/ herself.
    Note :- Visa applicants are required to submit own bank statement proving financial ability to pay all costs of the trip. In case of minor applicant (aged 15 and below) or a dependent, if they do not have individual bank account then they can submit bank statement of their parents/ spouse/ children.
  • The validity of Indian visa starts from the date of issue and not from the date of travel to India. Therefore, applicants are required to apply for appropriate validity visa.
  • The Mission would be issuing six months validity multiple entry Tourist visa for eligible visa applicants including Afghan nationals. The Tourist visa will be issued with the conditions that “each stay should not exceed 45 days”.
  • Applicants should apply for appropriate category of visa. Visas of tourist visa holders found to be travelling for other purposes such as business, study or medical treatment are liable to be cancelled and they may be denied future visa services. 
  • Any person seeking a visa to India for the purpose of entering into a surrogacy arrangement must ascertain beforehand whether the law of that country permits surrogacy and will provide appropriate travel documents to the child for accompanying the surrogate parents. Entering into surrogacy arrangement under any other visa not sought for surrogacy is punishable under the Indian law.
  • Applicants are required to submit individual passports for the purpose of getting Indian visa, as Embassy does not accept family passports.
  • All Afghan nationals are required to register within 14 days of their arrival in India with the FRROs at Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Amritsar and Kolkata. 
  • Business visa is issued from the country of origin, or from the country of domicile of the foreigner, provided the period of permanent residence of that applicant in that particular country is more than two years.
