Know India Programme (KIP) from 7th May to 1st June, 2016

Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India is organizing the next edition of Know India Programme (KIP) to familiarize Indian Diaspora youth with India’s culture, heritage and also with contemporary India. KIP will be for a duration of Duration of 25 days, of which participants will spend nearly 10 days in a select State. Focus of next KIP will be “Maharashtra State”, and is scheduled from 07 May to 01 June, 2016. Tentative programme is enclosed at Annexure-I.

The highlight of this year’s KIP is a tour of Maharashtra,  on board the luxury train "Deccan Odyssey", thanks to the support of the State Government of Maharashtra.

This programme is open only for Indian origin Diaspora youth in age group of 18-26 years.  NRIs are not eligible. Preference would be given to PIOs who have not visited India so far.

Completed application forms should be submitted by PIOs to concerned Indian Missions. Thereafter Missions may send by 10 April 2016 to OIA II Division nominations recommended by Head of Mission/Head of Post by email by the deadline indicated. Originals could be sent by bag/post.

List of applicants who have been selected for KIP would be communicated to concerned Missions / Posts as early as possible.

Note: Please note that participants are expected to reach Mumbai on 5 May, 2016, not 7th May, 2016 for the 35th KIP.

Selected participants have to purchase their flight ticket for their journey from the country of residence to India and back, as per schedule prescribed by the Ministry. Concerned Indian Mission/Post would reimburse 90% (ninety percent) of the total cost of air ticket (at lowest economy excursion fare) to participants on successful completion of the programme by them.
