President Yameen departs to India - Vnews, 10 April 2016

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom on Sunday has departed on a two-day official visit to New Delhi, India.

During the visit, President Yameen will call on his Indian counterpart, Pranab Mukherjee, and will hold discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as well as with India’s External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj.

The President is accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Dunya Maumoon, Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture Dr. Mohamed Shainee, and three Members of the Parliament.

Last year marked the 50th anniversary since diplomatic ties were established between Maldives and India. India was the third country to establish diplomatic ties with Maldives.

President Abdulla Yameen, on his maiden international visit on assuming office, traveled to India in January 2014.
