President Abdulla Yameen has on Monday met with the Indian External Affairs Minister, SushmaSwaraj.
The two dignitaries met this morning at the famous luxury hotel, The Leela Palace, in New Delhi.
According to the President's Office, President Yameen thanked India for its investments in Maldives, and emphasized the importance of the ties between both countries.
The meetings discussions focused on ways to fight terrorism and Maldives' role in helping India defend its ocean border. They also discussed about establishing a Maldivian cultural center in Trivandrum.
During the official visit, President Yameen is being accompanied by Foreign Minister Dunya Maumoon, Fisheries Minister Dr. Mohamed Shainee, Under Secretary of the President’s Office Mohamed Naseer, and Maldivian Ambassador to India Ahmed Mohamed.
