India ready to join i-heaven Modi - Sun Online, 12 April 2016

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stated that India is ready to join the development of i-heaven project announced by the government to develop Ihavandhippolhu.

In the joint press statement by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom; on his visit to India, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the project being an important goal of Maldives, India will extend full support for it.

“India is ready to establish a partnership with Maldives for this project”, Prime Minister stressed.

He further noted that the investment forum being held in Maldives will enhance commercial ties between both countries and also that India will extend assistance in expanding coastguard service and training of police officers.

The project has six main goals, which are to develop an airport, a harbor, bunkering services, real estate, shopping malls, and resorts in the atoll.

The iHaven project is one of the most important projects in President Yameen’s economic vision, and is being developed under the new laws of the Special Economic Zone (SEZ).

Boston Consulting Group (BCG) is set to prepare the details of the Ihavandhippolhu or ‘I-Heaven’ development project.
