Indian Prime Minister to visit Maldives very soon - Sun online, 08.03.2016

The Indian Government has said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be visiting the Maldives very soon.

The Indian Foreign Secretary Dr. S. Jaishankar told Sun Media at the Raisina Dialogue in Delhi from 1-3 March to discuss regional issues, that the Indian Prime Minister would be visiting the Maldives very soon.

When asked when the Indian PM would be making the visit, he said that “it would happen very soon.”

The Indian Prime Minister has visited all the countries in the region except for the Maldives.
President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s first official abroad after he was sworn in as the President of the Maldives was to India. And the first visit abroad of all of the Maldivian Defence Ministers has been to India.

Some sources in India says that the Indian Prime Minister has been delaying his visit to the Maldives because India cannot believe what is happening at the political scene of the country. And PM Modi has not visited the Maldives on his trip to Sri Lanka and many other countries.

But the sources say that PM Modi would change his mind and visit the Maldives soon.
