Maldives' healthcare ahead in Asia, says India - Haveeru Online, Feb 02, 2016

The Maldives’ healthcare services are ahead of other Asian countries, stated Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives, Akilesh Mishra.

Speaking at a press briefing held at Hotel Jen regarding India’s health expo and medical camp to be conducted in the Maldives this month, Mishra noted that the Maldives government gives special priority to enhancement of its health sector.

The ambassador assured that the neighbouring India will provide all the assistance possible for the Maldives’ endeavours to strengthen its health sector, which he described as one of the most important industries for enhancement.

Mishra also stated that the Maldives has achieved great success in the health sector, highlighting that the Maldives is the only member country of World Health Organisation (WHO) to eradicate Malaria completely.

The ambassador also shed light on the headway India has made in its medical field, adding that one of India’s objectives is to facilitate international assistance in various industries.

The High Commission of India will be holding a health expo and medical camp in the Maldives this month with the participation of 18 hospitals in India.
