Indian High Commission in Maldives, Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), Bonaqua and State Trading Organization (STO) is to collaborate together to hold a “India – Maldives Health and Wellness Week”, while additional joint-events by the two countries include a Health Expo which will be held in Dharubaaruge, as well as “India – Maldives Health Partnership Dialogue”.
The Health Expo – the first of its kind to be held in the country – will be held at Dharubaaruge from February 13 to 15.
More than 20 specialists working in 18 hospitals in India will be seeing patients during the expo.
Hospitals participating include Apollo Hospital, NU Hospital, KIMS Hospital, Columbia Asia and Basavantharam India-American Cancer Hospital.
Specialist doctors from all fields will be participating in the expo.
Both locals and foreigners can enter the expo without an entrance fee, while special discounted packages treatment packages will be available from the expo.
Expo will provide opportunity to make appointments as well as obtain accurate medical information and information on cost of various treatments.
Logo for the expo was unveiled by Indian High Commissioner to Maldives Akilesh Mishra during a ceremony held at Hotel Jen on Tuesday.
Mishra, during his speech, focused on the relationship between Maldives and India.
He also noted the achievements made by India in the medical field, and said that India trained hordes of doctors each year and that it was a pleasure to share knowledge and expertise of Indian doctors.
“Health issues have become a reason for global concern. No country can address it alone. All countries need each other’s help. We are one. We need to work together to bring about a positive change,” said Mishra.
Mishra also noted the progress made by Maldives in health sector, and praised Maldivian government’s efforts to develop the health sector.
IGMH Medical Camp will be held at IGMH from February 14- 18. Specialist Indian doctors including a urologist, a kidney specialists and a pediatric orthopedist will be seeing patients free of charge during the camp.
As such, urologist will be available from February 14 t 16; kidney specialist will be available from February 15 to 16; and pediatric orthopedist will be available from February 16 to 18.

Meanwhile, India – Maldives Health Partnership Dialogue will be held with stakeholders including Bank of India, Ooredoo, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry. |
