Both India and Maldives wants to secure regional peace Ravneet Singh - Miadhu News, 16 Feb 2016

INS VikramAditya’s Flag Officer Rear Admiral Ravneet Singh has said that both Maldives and India wished to secure peace and security of the Indian Ocean region.

He made the statement speaking in the function held aboard the ship.

Singh said that the arrival of the ship in the Maldives signified the good relations between the two nations and would benefit the navies of the two countries.

Speaking in the ceremony, Defense and National Security Minister Adam Shareef said that India is a vital partner in ensuring the safety of this region and, many times, had extended assistance to the Maldivian military as well.

Minister Adam Shareef added that the nation’s military had set out some strategic goals, adding that he was assured of the assistance of regional parties in ensuring the goals were fulfilled.

Chief of Defense Force Major General Ahmed Shiyam, cabinet Ministers, and senior government dignitaries, Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives Akhilesh Sharam, High Commission officials, and Indian citizens living in the Maldives and business owners took part in the ceremony.
