Born in 1966, Mr. Sanjiv Ranjan has done his B.A. (Hon.) Economics from Delhi University and M.A. in International Relations from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He completed his ISC from St. Michaels School in Patna in 1985. He joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1993. He is fluent in English, Hindi, and Spanish. Between 1995 and 2009, he held diplomatic positions in Indian Embassies in Madrid, Lima, and the Permanent Mission of India, New York interspersed with tenures at the Ministry of External Affairs of the Government of India. He served as Deputy High Commissioner of India to Mauritius from 2006 to 2009. From August 2009 till April 2012, he worked as Director (North) in the Ministry of External Affairs and in May 2012 he was appointed as Joint Secretary in the newly established Development Partnership Administration and served as the Coordinator of the third India Africa Forum Summit held in New Delhi in October 2015. He served as Ambassador of India to Argentina with concurrent accreditation to Uruguay and Paraguay from July 2016 to July 2019 and later as Ambassador of India to Colombia with concurrent accreditation to Ecuador, from August 2019 till July 2022. He is currently service as Additional Secretary (Administration) and Dean, Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service. He is married and has one daughter. His interests include reading and music |
