Visit of Journalist/ Editors from Afghanistan to Foreign Service Institute

20 Journalists/Editors from Afghanistan are visiting India on a familiarisation programme between 15-22 June 2019. As a part of the programme, the delegation visited the Foreign Service Institute (FSI), Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of India on 21 June 2019.

Amb J.S. Mukul, Dean FSI addressed the journalists on the activities of FSI. He appraised the delegation about the training programmes conducted by FSI for Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officers/officials of MEA and other ministries. Amb. Mukul gave a detailed briefing on training programmes conducted by FSI for foreign diplomats in spirit of South-South Cooperation.

Dean (FSI) noted that 3000 diplomats from over 180 countries have participated in these programmes. So far 182 diplomats from Afghanistan have participated in various courses conducted by FSI. He also informed the delegation that a two-week 2nd India-China Joint Special Course for diplomats from Afghanistan is scheduled to take place later this year. The address by Dean (FSI) was followed by a question-answer round. Amb. Mukul hosted a lunch reception for the delegation.

The visit of the Journalists/Editors is another step towards strengthening of bilateral ties between India and Afghanistan.
