India trained young Cricket Players from 26 African countries (4 players from Uganda) under CHOGM commitment made by Prime Minister of India

Cricket Coaching Camp for Boys and Girls from Commonwealth Countries


A cricket coaching camp for boys and girls under 16 years of age from Commonwealth countries is being held in the National Cricket Academy, Bengaluru from 01-30 October 2019. 35 participants-18 boys & 17 girls from 16 Commonwealth countries are attending the camp. The coaching camp which is the first of its kind is being conducted pursuant to the announcement made by Hon’ble Prime Minister at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in April 2018 in London. This is fully sponsored by the Government of India.

The girls and boys teams are trained on various aspects of the game by an experienced panel of coaches. The various components of the training include Medical Assessment, Musculoskeletal Screenings, Need based strength training, Video analysis, Skill assessments, planning etc.

India is a major player in the 53-member Commonwealth engaging the Small States and Small Island Developing States. This cricket coaching camp is aimed at strengthening bonds among the youth of the Commonwealth countries through the medium of sports.
