10th World Hindi Conference

The 10th World Hindi Conference (WHC) is being organized from 10-12 September 2015 in the city of Bhopal by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India in partnership with the Government of Madhya Pradesh. The decision to organize the 10th edition of the Conference in India was taken at the 9th World Hindi Conference held in Johannesburg, South Africa in September 2012.

By way of background, the first World Hindi Conference was held in 1975 in Nagpur, India. Since then, nine such Conferences have been held all over the globe.

Ministry of External Affairs is the nodal Ministry for the 10th World Hindi Conference. The partner State is Madhya Pradesh.

In order to deliberate on various aspects relating to the Conference, three key Committees– Advisory, Management and Programme have been constituted. Smt. Sushma Swaraj, Hon'ble Minister for External Affairs is the Chairperson of the Advisory and Programme Committees while Gen. (Retd) Dr V K Singh, Hon’ble Minister of State for External Affairs is the Chairman of the Management Committee. 

In Bhopal, the State Government of Madhya Pradesh is the local organizer for the Conference and Hon’ble Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan is the Chief Patron. Makhanlal Chaturvedi Rashtriya Patrakarita avam Sanchar Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal is the partner organization for the Conference.

The main theme of the Conference is "Hindi Jagat: Vistar avm sambhavnai”.

The venue of the Conference is "Lal Parade Ground”, Bhopal.

There will be special exhibitions at display at the Conference Venue. At the exhibition venue, there will also be a separate area designated for book releases where release of Hindi books and magazines will go on simultaneously.

During the Conference, there will be evening cultural programmes organized by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India and Department of Culture, Government. Madhya Pradesh. A kavi Sammelan will be organized by the Indian Council of Cultural Relations, New Delhi. The cultural programmes and the Kavi Sammelan will be coordinated by the Indian Council for Cultural relations.

A daily news letter (Sammelan Samachar), a Sammelan Smarika and a Conference Report on discussions held during the academic sessions and their recommendations would also be published. The daily Sammelan Samachar will be brought out by Makhanlal Chaturvedi Rashtriya Patrakarita avam Sanchar Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal while the conference report will be published by Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya, Wardha. The Indian Council of Cultural Relations will bring out a special issue of "Gagananchal” dedicated to the Conference.

In keeping with the past practice, Hindi scholars from India and other countries would be honoured for their distinguished service in the field of Hindi.

In order to select a suitable logo for the 10th world Hindi Conference, a logo design competition was organized by the Ministry of External Affairs carrying a prize amount of Rs.50,000/-. With the help of the Logo Selection Committee, a suitable logo for Conference was selected.

The website was formally launched by the Hon’ble External Affairs Minister, Smt. Sushma Swaraj on 16th May, 2015 at Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan, Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi. Winner of the Logo design competition Ms. Khyati Gupta from Banglore was awarded the prize money by the Hon’ble External Affairs Minister.
