International Day of Yoga - 2016 (IDY-2016) celebrations

The Mission celebrated International Day of Yoga -2016 (IDY-2016) on Saturday, June 18, 2016 in Havana at Abreau Fontan.  The event was celebrated in collaboration with the Cuban Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER).  The celebration of 2nd IDY received an overwhelming support and participation by the people in Havana.  Aside from senior officials of INDER, leading sports personalities of Cuba and members of the diplomatic corps attended the celebration.  The celebration commenced at 9:00 am with the screening of message from the Prime Minister and Minister of External Affairs. The remarks by the Ambassador and Mrs. Gladys Becquer, Vice-President of INDER was followed by yoga sessions and meditation.  The function ended with the cultural performance by Cuban school children.  The Mission is also organizing IDY-2016 in the Matanzas Province of Cuba on June 21st, 2016.
