Medical Visa

  1. Medical Visa

Medical Visa (“Med-1”) may be granted to an applicant for consultations or treatment at a recognized hospital in India. The visa shall be granted only if the appointment has been made with the recognized hospitals/laboratories in India and an appointment letter sent by such institution mentioning nature of treatment sought and giving details of patient along with medical attendant(s).

Medical Visa – Attendant (“Med-2”) may be granted to maximum of two attendants to medical patient (with “Med-1” visa).

It may be noted that Med-2 visa would be issued only if attendant’s name is mentioned in the appointment letter from registered medical institution. 

Documents required for  Med-1 visa:

  • Copy of passport with at least 6 months’ validity from the date of proposed arrival date in India.
  • Copy of e-Taskira or paper Taskira attested by National Statistics & Information Authority.
  • Polio vaccination certificate
  • The Indian hospital has to send the appointment in the form provided here.
  • In the event of a repeat visit to India for medical treatment, photocopies of medical papers pertaining to last visit of the patient shall suffice instead of a fresh appointment letter.
  • Copy of air ticket bookings, with an open return booking.
  • Please note that following the visa-interview the Embassy of India could at its discretion request further documentation from the applicant.

 

Documents required for Med-2 Visa

  • Copy of passport with at least 6 months’ validity from the date of proposed arrival date in India.
  • Copy of e-Taskira or paper Taskira attested by National Statistics & Information Authority.
  • Polio Vaccination certificate
  • Copy of appointment letter issued by registered hospital mentioning patient’s and attendant’s name and passport number.
  • Copy of air ticket bookings, with an open return booking.

 

Note - For accompanying attendant/family members of the patient, a maximum of 2 persons can be granted medical attendant visa (Med-2 visa). This visa will be co-terminus with the Med-1 visa of the applicant patient. Med-2 visa holder can travel to India only if accompanying the holder of respective Med-1 visa (the patient).

 

Due to Covid-19 restrictions at present only one attendant per patient is permitted to obtain Med-2 Visa.
