Grant-in-aid provided by Govt of India, to Afghan Red Crescent Society, Kabul, Afghanistan for the treatment of Afghan children suffering from Congenital Heart Disease (CHD)

During the visit of President Ashraf Ghani to India in April 2015, on the request of the Afghan Government, the Government of India committed Grants-in-aid of US$ 5 million ( US$ 1 million/year) to Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) for the treatment of Afghan children suffering from Congenital Heart Disease. Since then, the Government of India has been providing annual financial assistance of US$ 1 million to ARCS.

The fifth and final installment of US$ 1 million was disbursed to ARCS in April, 2020. A total of 2328 Afghan children affected from congenital heart disease have been treated in reputed Indian hospitals during the last five years with Government of India’s assistance.

India takes pride in being able to contribute towards the good health and well-being of Afghan children.

India remains committed to continue partnership with the people and Government of Afghanistan in areas of priority to them for socio-economic development and peace and stability of the country.
