Celebrations of 70th Constitution Day

CONSTITUTION DAY, 2019

Embassy of India, Kabul celebrated the 70th Constitution Day on 26th November, 2019  to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India on 26th November, 1949.

2.  H.E. Mr. Mohammad Farid Hamidi, Attorney General of Afghanistan, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and paid floral tributes to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, along with the Ambassador of India to Afghanistan, H.E. Vinay Kumar. The Attorney General spoke about the salient features of the Indian Constitution and thanked India’s continued support to Afghan lawyers in the field of legal education by organizing specialized ITEC Courses for them.

3.  Ambassador, Vinay Kumar, highlighted the critical role played by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Father of the Indian Constitution, during the process of developing and adoption of the Indian Constitution. He pointed out that the Constitution of India is the legal basis for the functioning of the the largest democracy in the world. Ambassador stated that under the Constitution of India, the country has fulfilled the aspirations of the people of India for political and legal equality, social justice ad economic prosperity.

4.  A documentary on the making of the Indian Constitution was also screened on the occasion. Senior officials of the Afghan Government and Indian Community members participated in the event. Embassy of India, Kabul would be organizing a series of events celebrating the 70th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of India during next one year.
