Mr. Sunjay Sudhir, Ambassador of India to Maldives


 Mr. Sunjay Sudhir, Ambassador

Mr. Sunjay Sudhir belongs to Indian Foreign Service which he joined in 1993.Before arriving in Maldives, Mr. Sunjay was Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas.

Earlier he served as the Consul General of India in Sydney; Joint Secretary and Head of the Office of External Affairs Minister and Joint Secretary (SAARC) and Joint Secretary (Establishment) in the Ministry of External Affairs.

He has also served as Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of India to the World Trade Organisation, Geneva (2007-11), Head of the Economic and Commercial Wing at the Indian Embassy, Colombo (2004-07), Second Secretary (Political, Information and Culture) at the Indian Embassy, Damascus (1997-2000) and Third Secretary at the Indian Embassy, Cairo (1995-97).

During his earlier stints in the Ministry of External Affairs in Delhi he served as Deputy Chief of Protocol (Ceremonial) during 2002-04, and has also worked in the Europe West Division (2000). He also had a brief stint as Joint Secretary (International Cooperation) in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas in 2012.

Educational Qualifications: Mr Sudhir holds the degree of Bachelor of Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Certificate in Diplomatic Studies, Oxford University; Certificate Courses on TRIPS Agreement and Public Health, WTO Law and Jurisprudence, and WTO Dispute Settlement from WTO, Geneva.
