India-Uzbekistan Foreign Office Consultations, New Delhi

The 13th round of Foreign Office Consultations between India and Uzbekistan were held in New Delhi on March 23, 2017. The Indian side was led by Smt. Preeti Saran, Secretary (East), and the Uzbek side by Mr. Dilyor Khakimov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs (West). During the meeting, the two sides discussed entire gamut of issues including high-level political exchanges, defence cooperation, trade and commercial ties , development cooperation, connectivity, cultural and consular matters as well as plans to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between India and Uzbekistan. Both sides also exchanged views on issues of regional and global importance while acknowledging the commonality of positions on matters of reform of international institutions and cooperation in regional groups like the SCO.

Earlier in the day, the Uzbek Deputy Foreign Minister also called on Minister of State for External Affairs Mr. M.J. Akbar.

After the Foreign Office Consultations, DFM Khakimov also met with Commerce Secretary.

The comprehensive discussions, held in a forward looking atmosphere, underscored the strong foundations of the India-Uzbek partnership.
