HE Mr M P Singh, Ambassador

HE Mr M P Singh belongs to the Indian Foreign Service and after joining Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in 1985, became one of the longest serving Protocol Officers with the unique distinction of handling/organizing visits of over 200 foreign Heads of State/Government to India. He was instrumental in evolving/revising the Protocol Guidelines of the Ministry for handling State Visits and Government of India hospitality norms currently in use. 

During his overseas postings to Indian Embassy, Havana as Administrative and Consular Attache (1993-1997), Indian Embassy Bangkok as Administrative Attaché (2003-2006); Indian Consulate, Toronto as Head of Community Affairs (2006-2010); Indian Consulate, Dubai as  Head of Community Affairs (2010-2013) and High Commission of India, London as Head of Special Projects & Protocol (2013-2017), Mr Singh was tasked with Indian community liaison and welfare work and also handled consular, protocol and administrative portfolios.

Before assuming charge as the Ambassador of India to Mongolia, he was Director (Conference) in New Delhi, entrusted with the responsibilities of arranging/organizing international conferences, summit and multilateral meetings on behalf of the Ministry of External Affairs. Ex-officio Mr Singh was also the Chairperson of the Operations Committee of the prestigious Convention Centre (Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra).

Mr Singh is married to Gurmeet Kaur and they have two sons.
