Celebration of Ladakh and Ladakhi Culture

Embassy of India in Ulaanbaatar organized an event to celebrate Ladakh  External website that opens in a new windowand Ladakhi Culture External website that opens in a new window on 20th March, 2019. The Ladakh region of Jammu External website that opens in a new window & Kashmir and Mongolia External website that opens in a new window share lot of similarity and commonalities in climate, cultural, cuisine, costume, Buddhist External website that opens in a new window religion, etc.

The former Mongolian President and Prime Minister Mr. N. Enkhbayar honoured the occasion as the Chief Guest. The function was attended by about 200 guests including local dignitaries, think tanks, Indologists, Buddhist monks, people from Mongolian tourism sector, leading Mongolian Business houses etc

Ambassador in his remarks stressed the convergence of Buddhism and Democracy in Mongolia and brought out influential aspects of Buddhism, and the strong civilizational heritage shared by the two countries.

During the event a powerpoint-presentation on Ladakhi culture, costume, religion, economy, dance, music, cuisine, language monasteries and attractive destinations for tourism in Ladakh was given. Specially curated short film on Ladakh was shown along with dance performances by the winning groups of the National Dance Competition “Melody of Ganga River”.
