Indian Minister of State for External Affairs Visits Dominican Republic

General (Dr.) V. K. Singh, Indian Minister of State for External Affairs visited Santo Domingo between the 15th and 17th of February this year, accompanied by a delegation comprising Joint Secretary (LAC), Mrs. Riva Ganguly Das, and H.E. Chintapally Rajasekhar, Ambassador accredited to Dominican Republic. During the visit, discussion with Dominican Foreign Minister Andrés Navarro García were held.       

Among the main points, there was an extensive review of bilateral relations between both countries, which resulted in both sides expressing satisfaction at the present stage of them and renewing their commitment to broadening and strengthening bilateral, regional, and multilateral cooperation.

The Minister of State also delivered an address on foreign policy focused on Latin America and the Caribbean region at the Foreign Service Institute of Dominican Republic (INESDYC, in Spanish). Not of less importance was his interaction with other leaders and businessman at a Business Breakfast. He also interacted with a significant group of dignitaries, senior government official, academicians, media, and Indian community.

This official visit served, as well, as appropriate moment for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of Renewable Energy by Mr. Pelegrin Castillo Seman, Dominican Minister of Energy and Mines, and Ambassador C. Rajasekhar.  
Fruitful as it was, it actually represented a step forward in the deepening of bilateral relations between both nations.
